Corrected footnote 3 in A Reply to J. P. Holding's "Shattering" of My Views on Jesus and an Examination of the Early Pagan and Jewish References to Jesus (2000) by G.A. Wells.Previously Richard Carrier had stated in this footnote that Pilate could not have been procurator of Judaea. This is incorrect. He did have to be prefect of Judaea to kill Jesus, but he could have been a procurator as well. However, this does not affect Wells' argument that an official record of the execution of Jesus would list Pilate as prefect, not procurator, since only in his capacity as prefect could he officially execute criminals.
