On The Subject of Transhumanism:
The philosophy of transhumanism tries to combine the principles of humanism and advanced technology in order to transcend the Human Condition. Many futurists and science fiction authors speculate that humanity is destined to evolve into something far greater then mere flesh and blood. Speculations about this transformation range from cyborgs and posthumans to inscrutable AI gods and the Omega Point theory. Should secular humanists adopt "trans"-humanism as a more uplifting vision of what the human species can become or does this philosophy have too many religious overtones and better left in the realm of science fiction? Here we hope to debate the philosophy of transhumanism by presenting two opposing viewpoints.
