Addendum G: Microbial Replication
Richard Carrier
Hoyle says in Our Place in the Cosmos: The Unfinished Revolution that “a typical time for replication under favorable conditions would be two or three hours” (p. 35) so that in a day, a single organism becomes a thousand, and in four days, a trillion, with a total weight of only one gram. Thus it should be evident that my estimates for the T4 are conservative even to the point of absurdity.
