Bruce Bawer is one of our leading cultural critics. Described by Kirkus Reviews as "a literary essayist for the ages," he has published several volumes of criticism, including: A Place at the Table: The Gay Individual in American Society (a New York Times Notable Book of the Year); Stealing Jesus: How Fundamentalism Betrays Christianity; Diminishing Fictions: Essays on the Modern Novel and Its Critics; The Aspect of Eternity; and Prophets and Professors. He served as a board member of the National Book Critics Circle and has written for the New York Times, the Washington Post Book World, the Wall Street Journal, the New Republic, and other periodicals.
